The Motor Vehicle Database was developed to assist members in tracking historical and other data on insured vehicles islandwide. Authorised employees of member companies are issued Usernames and Passwords which enable them to access information on the database. These authorized employees are allowed to view and access information pertaining to their respective companies only. There are two levels of access - a Senior User is able to input data, make changes to data and print, while an Operator can only input data. Employees of the Council office have Super User status allowing them to make changes and input other data not accessible to member companies. The database is managed by an Administrator i.e. the Executive Secretary who is responsible for issuing Usernames and Passwords and granting access to the database.

By supplying either the name of the registered owner or the registration number of a vehicle the following information can be obtained:-

1. The company through which the vehicle is insured;
2. Expiry date of the insurance;
3. Policy Number;
4. Engine and Chassis numbers;
5. Model year;
6. Vehicle type and model;
7. Garage and name of inspector who prepared Inspection Certificate.

It is anticipated that a database will be developed for the other classes of insurance which will be linked to the motor vehicle database sometime in the future.
