In 2002 Guardian General Insurance Limited emerged on the Caribbean insurance market having acquired both Nemwil and Caribbean Home Insurance.  This resulted in Guardian General Insurance Ltd. being the largest indigenous property and casualty insurance company in the region with operations spanning 21 Caribbean territories. 

Guardian Life of the Caribbean Ltd., a sister company in the Guardian Group, is engaged in the underwriting of all classes of long-term (individual and group) life, health and pensions insurance business as well as associated investment activities.

A.M. Best Co. has affirmed the financial strength rating (FSR) of A- (Excellent) and issuer credit ratings (ICR) of “a-” of Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited (GLOC) and Guardian General Insurance Limited (GGIL).
